Meet The Instructors

Come and say a virtual hello to the two principal instructors at Wild Wookey!

We’ve teamed up with the Wild team to find out a little bit more about them, and what (on earth?!) got them into the amazing world of adventure caving…

Chris

Chris brings a wealth of caving knowledge and experience to Wookey Hole and as a result, created “Wild Wookey”: the Award-Winning experience, recognised as the most diverse adventure caving the UK has to offer. Incorporating European climbing techniques and interlacing this, along with many other unique activities, into the caving experience through the showcaves, Wild Wookey is a testimony to his experience, creativity and vision.

Holder of the Caving Instructor Certificate, Chris is a specialist leader/trainer with over fifteen years of varied experience catering for groups, often on a 1:1 basis, providing high quality guiding and training. Chris has been a principle rigger on many overseas expeditions, has created award winning filming & photography underground (has completed subsequent editing); and is a designer of bespoke adventures for active clients.

A Trainer/Assessor for the National Governing Body for caving, he has many specialties including: rope techniques training/rescue, specialist product & techniques development, filming/editing, guiding, technical advisory work.

 Becca

Becca has been a part of the team at Wookey Hole Caves for over three years now, originally training as a Tour Guide in the showcaves before becoming one of Wild Wookey’s principal instructors. Involved with Wild Wookey from the beginning, Becca was approached when the idea of an ‘adventure caving route’ was first mentioned and has played a pivotal role in its development ever since.

“Before working here I had never been caving but when the idea came around I thought it sounded like so much fun, so I went caving with Chris and thoroughly enjoyed it! It all sort of snowballed from there; from helping him to create the experience, to training and becoming an instructor. I love caving because it’s always great fun, it’s fantastic exercise and every journey through the caves is different. My knowledge of the caves is particularly useful as we love to inform visitors about the history of the caves as we go around, taking advantage of the stunningly good views of Wookey Hole, along the Wild route!”
